This collection explores the paradoxical expectations in society; conflict between pressures to be provocative and pressures to be conservative, are embodied in the range through methods of concealing and revealing the body. The garments are meant to provide a mechanism for women to reclaim these aspects, and thus their own agency from objectification, by embodying their own complex conflicting ideals.
The idea of volume is also inherent to the designs, as we all attempt to negotiate a space for ourselves in society. Fabrication and the colour palette draw upon ideas of animal warning colouration to declare the power and independence of the wearer. The contrast between the bright colours and black fabrics reinforces the notion of exposure and concealment.
